👀 See the Results for Yourself!
Your child deserves to feel confident, capable, and excited about reading. Our students aren’t just learning to read—they’re thriving! Here’s how our personalized approach has transformed the lives of young readers and their families:

When I first started working with A.L., an 8th grader, he consistently scored 1’s and 2’s on his writing assessments. He struggled to construct strong theses, use evidence meaningfully, provide context, and analyze an author’s word choice and figurative language. After just one month of weekly sessions, A.L. began earning 3’s and 4’s, showing a remarkable improvement in his writing skills. Now, a year later, he consistently receives 4’s on his writing assignments. Beyond the grades, A.L. has gained the confidence and independence to craft thoughtful, analytical paragraphs on his own—a transformation that will benefit him far beyond the classroom.

I.S., a first grader, struggled with reading fluently—she found it difficult to read accurately and quickly, which impacted her comprehension and confidence. When we began working together in September 2024, she could read only 10 words correctly per minute. By October 22nd, her fluency skyrocketed to 48 words per minute- a 380% improvement in just 6 weeks! Her growth didn't stop there - As of December 2024, she’s reading 76 words per minute—an incredible 660% improvement in just 3 months! With individualized, systematic phonics instruction, I.S. not only improved her reading skills, but also rediscovered her confidence and joy in learning.

At the start of 2nd grade, M.Y. didn’t know all their letters and sounds and couldn’t read simple words like "dog" or "cat." They were self-conscious and anxious about reading, often avoiding it altogether. A diagnostic assessment revealed they were working at a Kindergarten level. After just one month of consistent tutoring, M.Y. mastered their letters and sounds and could read three-to-five-letter words like "crab" and "slant." By the end of 2nd grade, they were even reading ABOVE grade-level. More importantly, M.Y. gained confidence and developed a love for reading, even volunteering to read poems in front of their entire school—a transformation that inspired everyone around them.

Are you a school administrator or educator?
TAS Literacy partners with NYC schools to provide expert literacy intervention directly during the school day — no outside coordination required for families.
Meet Taylor.

Hi, I'm Taylor! Founder of TAS Literacy.
I became a reading specialist because I saw, year after year in the classroom, what happens when kids fall behind in reading: they don't just struggle academically, they start to believe something is wrong with them. That belief is what I'm most committed to changing.
I'm a New York City–based certified Reading Specialist and Special Education teacher with over 10 years of classroom experience in grades K–8. I hold a Bachelor's degree in General Education and a Master's degree in Special Education from the University of Florida, with endorsements in teaching reading and certification in the Orton-Gillingham approach. In 2020, I earned my Reading Specialist certification, and I'm currently completing my Level 2 Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist certification through the Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI) — the field's gold standard for structured literacy practice.
Since launching TAS Literacy, I've dedicated over 5,000 hours to working 1:1 with students, providing individualized, multi-sensory instruction rooted in the Science of Reading. I specialize in:
-
Foundational phonics and decoding (Orton-Gillingham approach)
-
Reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension
-
Academic writing and essay development
-
Executive functioning skills (organization, task management, study strategies)
-
Support for students with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and other learning differences
Every student I work with begins with a comprehensive diagnostic assessment so that instruction is tailored to their specific strengths and needs, not a generic program.
My goal isn't just to help kids read better. It's to help them feel capable, confident, and excited about learning.
Did You Know?
Data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress shows
69% of fourth grade students are below proficiency in reading, and 40% of students across the nation cannot read at a basic level.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Our personalized, research-backed sessions are designed to give your child the tools they need to thrive, grow, and love reading.
Early Intervention is key.
It's never too late to get your child the help they need!
Research consistently shows that teaching phonics explicitly and systematically is key to reading success. It helps kids decode words, read more fluently, and understand what they’re reading—especially those who struggle.
Early reading skills shape your child’s future. Don’t wait to get your child on track.
